Hi all,

I have just recently brought my first 80 series. It is a 1991 gxl td. Which it has got the chrome Stock 15 inch rims on it. What I want to know (looks aside) is there any benifit in going to 16's for future upgrade of better brakes, or there is no real benifits over 15's?

Also the 16's I'm looking are a 16x8 with neg 12 dynama rims, which I think will allow a more wider tyre to fit? The Tyre's I want to get are km2 33's, not sure how wide....

Cheers

Matt

You can fit 33 on 0 off set same as standard 8'' Toyota OME 16'' rims

If you up grade the front brakes to post 8/92 you need 16s and they stop great once you done it!!!

It's not the front brakes on the later models 15's won't fit over. It's the rear. And 15's are way cheaper. You will need 8" wide rims to fit 33 x 12.5.

Thanks for the help guys. Even thou 15's might b cheaper I think future proofing by buying 16's rims and Tyre's will b cheaper than upgrading later when I do the brakes.

Cheers

It's the rear brakes that cause the problems mate not the front. 15s fit on the front of big brake 80s but not the rear .

15s can fit too, just need to grind a teeny bit off your rear calipers

Yep, this is very true. But everyone is too scared to do it. Its the smallest of nics aswell. A mate bought new eagle alloys in 15" from forby's. They didnt fit so he asked for a grinder. 10 seconds later it clears fine.

Someone should do a write up for this mod. And show people it doesnt affect the calipers performance or safety in any way.
