My 80 and the wifes Corolla are both insured with RACWA.
We are the listed co-drivers of each others car.
I was driving her car, hit a roo, claimed against her policy.
Her premium went up several hundred dollars, which was expected.
My excess on my 80 went up $300, which I am not happy about, so the question is, is that normal practice, or have I been shafted?

Decided against that after reading a few pages here:-

Thing is people only go on those websites after they feel they have been shafted, I'd still recommend Shannon's. The RAC WA page is copping similar reviews, as with Allianz, SGIO etc.

Just looking at ratings for the last 5 years, and there are some names there that I would not have expected, like Youi for example.

I found youi to be a pain in the arse to deal with. My 80 had 3rd party with youi at the time of its demise. Just trying to cancel the policy was a hassle as they try and do everything they can to keep the policy active. Same deal when just trying to get a quote, they try everything they can to sign you up on the spot (and if youi is the first place you've rung for quotes......... ) No idea what they are like to deal with come claim time, but I cant be bothered dealing with them anymore.

I've only had to make one major claim in my years of driving and that was with SGIO, which I never had an issue with - I had more problems with the smash repairer who dragged his heels getting estimates to the insurance company because he knew there was no work in it for him  Had a work mate got his house broken into a few years ago and ended up with quite a bit of gear stolen, he was insured by AAMI at the time and never had an issue sorting the claim.

Indeed. And they love to make it complicated.

If club4x4 is for members of a club, would the "Offroad80s" qualify as a club - or is it available to all?

Relevant, as I am not in any registered "Club", just groups like this.

"EDIT" Unless we get Shane to change the name of the forum to "offroad80s club" ;-)

I have just sent off an email to a mate who is the "Insurance Officer" of a 4WD club to see if anyone can join or if offroad89's would classify as a club. Will keep you posted via this thread.
