Hi All

I thought this might be enjoyed by you guys as well as me :D I got myself a Winch last year and finally got a weekend to fit it. I'm very pleased with the result.

Some history first: i have had a Warn XD9000 i=on a previous truck and found it to be unreliable. In 3 years i overhauled it 3 times and it still let me down in remoteish areas twice. Although One time it did get me out of a bog when it was completely submerged. So when i got rid of it i vowed to get a winch that would be more reliable and so when this came up i pounced.

So it is a Pierce 9000Lb 12V electric worm drive 470 to 1 ratio. The clutch is a dog clutch and the breaking is inherent in the gear train design. (as in it does not have a separate break) it has 2 oil sections to lubricate the gears rather than relying on grease. It weighs about 50KGs. Made in USA it is made like a tank. Used lots on tilt trays and such.

The challenge i had was fitting it to a steel bullbar that was not a winch bar to start with. Also it's sheer size was a challenge. In the end i have mounted the gear selector the correct way up and the motor and gear set upside down and back the front

The Front Mounting Cradle. I beefed it up to 6mm by adding in an old winch cradle i had.

The only bummer was i had to cut out the front grill to allow for the gear handle. But considering what i had that was the least of my problems.

The solenoid box is temporary. I'm going to mount it in the engine bay to keep it high and dry. I am also going to look into a remote control system for it. I think Jaycar do one but if anyone knows what else can be used it would appreciate it.

So as a guy once said to me when i got the first winch "now you will get yourself into all sorts of trouble" Bring it on
