I've got a 40th anniversary rim that I wouldn't mind trading for a factory alloy rim. I don't have pics of my alloys right now, might take a while to get some. I see these alloys around occasionally, e.g. there is an RV near my house with them. AFAIK they're OEM fitment on my 93 Sahara, not sure what other models had them. I'm pretty happy with the 40th rim, but I'd prefer a matching set. I'm not interested in selling the rim, just trading (it took me a long time to find a factory alloy at a reasonable price, don't want to play the waiting game again).

Does it look like the one I've got as a spare?

Not really. Yours look like the steel GXL rims? Kinda flat faced? Maybe it's just the photo. I'm pretty sure it's these ones:

although the way the light's reflecting off them makes them look a bit different. Also these:

I'll try to take a picture of mine today, and the 40th.

Yeah dolph's is just the factory steel rim. Isn't the 40th rim and the "standard" alloy very similar. Never seen both together but thought the 40th only had the thin groove down the centre of each spoke.

Those ones you've pictured are presuambly the factory Sahara alloy (and maybe others). I saw a set advertised on ebay up here a few months ago. Took the guy ages to sell them actually and price was good.

Huh. I watch ebay fairly religiously. Dunno how I missed it. Maybe they were part of a set and I couldn't afford a set, just wanted a 2nd spare.

Anyway, here's the 40th:

Image

underneath two old tyres and some lawn edging. And here's what I've got:

Image

which is yeah, the same as the 40th except for the blackened grooves and also the blackened cutaways. As I say, I'm very happy with the 40th but I'd prefer a matching set all round so I look bling when I eventually get a spare wheel carrier. Maybe to look bling I'd need to get my rims polished first. I also thought they were Sahara only, maybe in the earlier years but like I say there's a guy around the corner with an RV with them on. Dunno.

The rims you are after are the post 8/92 Sahara Alloys. They were also standard on the special addition blue marlin. I also beleive there are a few GXL's getting around with them as they were a factory option. I would love a set of 40th Anniversary rims!

I'm surprised none of you picked up this:

It was on ebay for a couple of days before I came across it. I can't believe no-one had snapped it up. Now I've got two of the bloody things!

Still looking to trade for Sahara alloys ...

If you ever want to sell any of the factory 40th rims I'm happy to take at least one off your hands. I'd like to replace my second spare aftermarket one thats on the cruiser and then get another two aftermarket ones to run on my camper

Yeah, if I find a set of regular alloys you're my first port of call to sell my 40ths.

I thought I was on a winner today - $400 for alloys in the Quokka. I asked all the right questions to make sure they were factory alloys, yep 16 x 8 JJ-looking symbol, factory fitted on the car, taking them off to fit steelies, off a GXL. Last question that almost slipped my mind - I've got an 80, these are for an 80, right? Nope, 100 rims .

They look just like the Snowy rims from the 105 series, but with 6 studs instead of 5... are they aftermarket?
