Oh, thats what he wants, I thought he wanted someone to drive it to Qld, but couldn't figure out the trade in bit, pretty obvious now that you think about it.

Anyone could go look at a car but is our opinion worth anything, I am a Diesel mechanic by trade but have not worked on a car for 20 odd years, would you trust me to look at this thing, or there are wanna be's around that have a theoretical ability that far exceeds their real ability that can look at it for him.

Really, if it is not too far away I would give it the once over for you but if you were serious, I would, after an initial inspection pay to have it looked at and get a proper report. Problem is that if you wait to long and the deal is reasonable it will be sold, if it's not reasonable then are you gonna pay too much.

I can say the above from experience, I drove to Qld to get my 80 series, saw it on Friday drove up on Saturday and got it on Monday (Queenslanders dont like to work on Sunday). The dealer had 18 calls while I was in the yard inspecting it, if the deal is good it will be gone already.

Anyway I love to rant, if you want to tell me the dealer's address and it is reasonably close I will take a look at it for you, Can't buy it cause the one I got sent me broke :( but I still recommend a second inspection while you drive from Qld.

Barry

There is a 80 here in Port Macquarie For Sale, I had a quick look at it last weekend, White {A nice Colour} with Diesel and a Denco Turbo 350.000KLMS 4" lift ARB Lockers / ARB front Bar D/lights asking price was $21.990 I think it was reduced from $24.990

Thats about all I can tell you about it.

If your interested will see if it is left on the side of the road with the For Sale sign on this weekend.

That's not the impression you were giving us in that for sale ad Barry.

Seriously though if you are really keen and the yard is a quality operation with a good truck you should hopefully be able to negotiate with them to take it to a reputable inspector if you can line one up not too far from them. Otherwise as stated it'll be gone before you can line up a stranger from a forum and if it's not it was possibly way too dear or crap or both.

Buying interstate is always difficult and best left to last choice. We bought a van that way by getting heaps of additional photos agreeing to a deal in principal then flying (by car) down on the hope the vendor was honest and accurate with cheque in hand. Luckily he was on elder gent from a time when honesty and courtesy was valued so we didn't waste our time.

I wouldn't mind knowing the name of the yard just in case it's the mob I got one off and wound up fighting in court

Yep buying interstate is a bitch and as said, option of last resort only, I was also lucky got a dealer that was honest and ended up with a good truck after all the effort.

surely someone in sydney can go and have a quick look.. I would but I moved to brissy a few years back.

Also, I picked up my 80 from melbourne then drove it back to brisbane, good fun, but a bit easier when your work for a national airline.

I have offered to go and look at it, but I need the details first just in case the car yard is 100 miles away.

It's probably S/W of Sydney by about 900+klms just testing the water to see how deep it is :stirring: :spoton:
