More baby seat questions

Hi,
Just got the nod to take grandson to the zoo tomorrow, so need to fit a child seat asap. Where is the attachment point for the top tether - Is it in roof or floor?

On my 93 HZJ80 they are above the rear doors.

3 of them 1 for each seat position.

On my Marlin they are in the floor in the back about level with the retaining pins for the 3rd row seats.

I found the 3 positions ok. so pushed the bolt through the vinyl. was greatly surprised that there was no weld nut attached!!
So wrapped the top tether around the shelf systeml have. Thats supported off the C pillar seatbelt (D loop) mounts (7/16 UNF) so plenty strong. Probably not quite legal but perfectly upto the task.

On barn doors it above the doors and tail gate it is on the floor

on my gxl the centre child anchor point is on roof, back nearly to the rear window. the 2 side ones are one the floor, close to the rear of the seats. hope all this makes sense, now only if i was 3 weeks earlier

I didnt think the GXL's had a middle anchor point due to the 50/50 split seat (apparently baby seats are a no no directly over a seat split - so my wife tells me and she's a bit of a child seat nazi :lol:

)

I have the three holes in the roof at the back but none of them are threaded.

Don't know about that, but mine definately has one. It's the one we use the most too are the kids are now in the booster seat type of thing and the middle seat only has lap belt. As a matter of interest, why would the split seat matter, both sides lift up by the same method so the middle seat would need both sides to fail right? Or wrong?

Mine is a 1994 GXL and have just been searching for the anchor points!!

Can anyone with child seat anchor points in the floor measure from the back of the rear floor at the chrome strip that holds the carpet down, trying to find the pesky points and with a rear storage unit in its a right PITA :roll:

Found all of the unthreaded holes in the roof

Trying to avoid having to take out the rear storage unit and fridge slide!

Got a few months before the little fella arrives, but wanna pick him up in the 80..........he only stops kicking when we're in the 80 :mrgreen:
