Where I live I pay about $1.40 aus for ULP and about 64cents/liter for LPG

Diesel around here is about $1.50ish atm.

$2.23 my wife would make my sell the cruisers and buy a push bike :)

Kenn13, I put in about 85 litres yesterday at $1.355/litre. That is for 91 octane Unleaded Petrol. You guys have the 95 octane unleaded over there as your base fuel which is a little more expensive over here (can't remember the price at the moment).
Cheers
Adam

I consitiently get 420-50km per tank with various types of driving. That's with 35s, 4.56 diffs, 6in lift, a heap of heavy duty custom bar work, part time kit and K&N air filter. The car is regularly serviced using good quality oils, the fuel injectors are cleaned every 80-100,000km in a sonic bath and 98premium fuel used where ever possible.

As NeilF said, there are many variables that determine true fuel economy and sometimes you have to think outside the box to improve it. I know for a fact fitting the part time kit and having the injectors cleaned (on seperate occasions) made a noticeable improvement in fuel economy. At the moment, the diff gears are holding me back the most.

I have a 97 auto with 210k on the clock and just got 538km out of the main tank (90L). 406km of that was country driving between Albany and Perth with 3 people and the dog in the car and the aircon on. The remaining 138km was normal city driving. That works out at 16.73L/100km which i reckon isnt too bad considering the city driving.

On a recent trip to Cape Peron we did Perth northern suburbs to Overlander roadhouse on 140litres of PULP that's 640kms (I think), speeds about 100 towing a loaded camper trailer of 1000kgs, 285/75/16 muddies at 42psi, 5"lift, heavy barwork and with loaded car. Car had full 80litre fridge, drawers, 40l water tank plus luggage, roof bars with rods and son and wifey. That's 20.5l/100km which was pretty good for us. Drove with aircon on most of way.
Overlander to tip of Cape Peron with solo runs to town via sand tracks and then back to Overlander used about 180litres of PULP over about 550kms so about 28l/100km. A bad head wind on way home tho!!!

Car now in getting 4.56 diffs so will see how that helps cos the hills kill the petrol auto with camper on the back.

On our Tassie trip I averaged 28.31L/100kms over 2970kms (gps corrected, odo showed 2703), with the best tank of 23.24L and a worst of 33.1L/100.
Fully loaded, roof rack with rooftop tent and 315/75x16 mudterrians.

I reckon my diesel cruiser would have used maybe just over half the fuel saving about $350, but then I didn't have to worry about driving through saltwater creeks and bogholes in the petrol cruiser.

I was thinking 28 was pretty good......

Till I looked to see what it was in a "real" measurement, good old miles per gallon.
10, yeah TEN mpg.

I haven't had anything that bad since my XB GT back in my younger days.

thats with 31" tyres and about 42psi in them, no racks or anything, just a bullbar

and being easy on the right foot, changing around 2400 to 2800 generally

not too bad i reckon, havent done a good highway trip yet though to see how it goes

I have'nt had the chance to run a tank full of petrol through mine yet only had it 2 weeks. I have a 93 manual 290k, has 285/75 16 a/t's, alloy bar, full length rack, snorkel, kaymar wheel carrier,3 batteries so thats the majority of mods and extra weight and I got (LPG) 335 k's for 76 litres of gas mixture of h/way and city. Is that good or bad?. I had a 94 auto 80 190k with new gas system a few years back that had nothing extreme but quite a bit done to it, all the usual things, and it struggled to get 300k for 95 litres of gas and barely made 400 for a tank of petrol. Just a comparison!

Steve

"That is extraordinary fuel consumption you guys seem to be getting there. There must be something very wrong with mine as i am lucky to get 400 km..."

Yep I'm the same.....me thinks he's either got a larger tank than normal or it had a fuel truck running behind him lol

With old school gas system I was getting around 480km Per tank for average 110ltrs ,
Now with turbo on the 1fz and new gas inj system I get the same kms but I'm also on 315s
To fill up cost around $62-$69 obviously depending on price and how empty the tank is .

Not bad cost for kms I think

Hi, I actually improved my consumption changing to injected gas.
Can I ask about your turbo?
Who did it?
How much?
What's it like?
Has it improved performance, towing, off road etc?

Cheers.
